There are gifts that disappear into a drawer after the holidays, and there are gifts that are used every day for years. Headphones that come along on every trip. A speaker that starts the morning in the kitchen. A book that stays on the table because everyone wants to leaf through it.

If you are looking for a gift for a music lover, Bang & Olufsen is a safe choice with a character of its own: sound that is right, materials that age beautifully and a design that stands out even when no music is playing. At Brussee, an official Bang & Olufsen dealer since 1995, we have set out the finest gifts by budget. Whether you are looking for a luxury gift for him or for her, for Christmas or for a birthday.

Why a Bang & Olufsen gift lasts

A luxury gift is more than an expensive gift. The difference lies in what happens after it is unwrapped.

Materials that age beautifully. Bang & Olufsen works with aluminium, leather, wood and wool instead of glossy plastic. A Beoplay H100 is made from aluminium, titanium and lambskin; a Beolit 20 combines anodised aluminium with vegetable-tanned leather.

Made to be repaired. According to Bang & Olufsen, the Beosound A1 3rd Gen is the world’s first Bluetooth speaker with Cradle to Cradle certification at bronze level: the battery and other parts can be replaced. On the Beoplay H100, the battery, headband, cushions and even the drivers can be swapped or serviced.

Designed by names that matter. The Beosound A1 and the Beolit 20 were designed by Cecilie Manz, the Beosound A9 by Øivind Alexander Slaatto. A Bang & Olufsen gift is also a piece of Danish design history.

For someone who has everything

Sometimes you are not looking for a gift but for a gesture. These are the pieces that change a room.

Beosound A9, from EUR 3,700. The round speaker of just over seventy centimetres on three wooden legs, with 1,500 watts and seven drivers. In the living room it is more object than device. The Centennial collection Beosound A9 in Century Blue, with solid aluminium legs, is EUR 4,500. How the A9 developed over five generations is covered in our guide to the Beosound A9 generations.

Beosound Balance, from EUR 3,000. A speaker that stands on a sideboard as an interior object, with 850 watts and 360-degree sound that you can also steer in one direction.

Beosound 2, from EUR 3,300. The aluminium cone with the Acoustic Lens on top. For something truly special there are versions such as the Beosound 2 Atelier at EUR 4,800.

Special versions and limited editions can be found in the Centennial Collection and among our limited editions. Availability varies; do ask us what is currently in stock.

For someone who already owns Bang & Olufsen

If the recipient already has a Bang & Olufsen system, these are the gifts that make it better.

Beoremote One, from EUR 400. An aluminium remote control that works with Bluetooth and infrared and, according to Bang & Olufsen, controls new and classic products alike.

Beoremote Halo, from EUR 750. A round touch screen for the table or the wall, so music comes on as easily as the lights.

Beoconnect Core, EUR 1,150. For anyone who still has classic Beolab speakers: the unit that lets them stream via AirPlay, Spotify Connect and Google Cast. More in our guide to classic Beolab speakers and their successors.

A second speaker for stereo. The Beosound A1, Explore, A5, Level and A9 can all be paired as a stereo pair with a second unit of the same model. A second A1 turns one speaker into a stereo system.

Five tips for choosing the right gift

  1. Think about the place, not just the person. On the move calls for headphones or earbuds, the kitchen for a portable speaker, the living room for something that deserves to be seen.
  2. Mind the size of the room. Bang & Olufsen gives a recommended room size for each speaker: up to 30 square metres for the Explore and the Emerge, up to 100 for the A9.
  3. Choose the colour deliberately. For many models the colour is the personal part of the gift. If in doubt, Natural Aluminium and Black Anthracite are the timeless choices.
  4. Look at what is already in the home. A speaker that works with an existing speaker gets used more than a stand-alone device.
  5. Come and look and listen. You choose headphones on fit and a speaker on sound. In the showroom you hear the difference in a few minutes.
